The five of us started working on the FLL annual competition in September 2015. After many months of building a robot for the challenge and creating a project idea to be presented, we attended the competition on the 10th of December, 2015 at the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea.
The robot game consisted of a new course of objectives on a mat. We had to design, create and program an intuitive robot that by itself did these tasks. Each task had points assign to it and simply the highest scoring team would win that part of the competition. After the round we scored about 200 points which is good but came 4th out of all the teams.
Our robot design was also scored by technical judges. We were glad to hear that we won this section of the competition.
The project side of the competition was to create an idea that helped solve the problem of rubbish. We came up with many ideas but we decided an app that would give local recycling info. However, we did not gain success from this idea, yet we had fun creating it and presenting it.
The event ended with the presentation of awards and we were given the technical design trophy and found out that we came 3rd out of the whole of Wales. The five of us all had a lot of fun and learnt new team working skills whilst participating. We look forward to doing the same competition next year.
